Interlibrary Loans
Borrowing.The Ernst Mayr Library will borrow books and acquire articles from other libraries for faculty, staff and students of Harvard’s Departments of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology and Molecular and Cellular Biology, the Natural History Museum complex and for others under special circumstances. There is no fee for this service. Interlibrary loan requests may be sent via or given to Circulation or Reference staff. The Ernst Mayr Library also participates in the Scan & Deliver service.
Lending. The Ernst Mayr Library lends books and provides photocopies to other libraries and institutions per the following policies. ILL requests may be submitted on official ALA or IFLA forms, via OCLC (symbol HMZ), or sent by email, mail or fax (617.496.6838).
Loans. For libraries without reciprocal agreements, the loan fee is $20.00 per title. The loan period is four weeks. Some types of materials, such as periodicals, items from Special Collections, etc., do not circulate.
Photocopies. For libraries without reciprocal agreements, there is a minimum charge of $15.00 for up to 30 pages. Additional charges may be added for special requests.
Other Services. Other services, such as copying of microfilm, or photographic reproductions of library or archival material, are also available. Estimates will be sent for each request, as prices vary and some services require prepayment.
