Librarian Travels

The Library was represented recently at the annual conference of the International Association of Aquatic & Marine Sciences Libraries & Information Centers (IAMSLIC), held this year in Dania Beach, Florida. The group is truly international, and this year's participants came from Argentina, New Caledonia, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France, and Senegal, as well as from all over the US and Canada. IBA in Catania

During the week of June 10-16, 2013 the International Bryozoology Association (IBA) met at the University of Catania, Italy.   Four MCZ affiliates are members of the IBA:  Prof. Robert M. Woollacott, OEB graduate student Kira Treibergs, Mary Sears of the Ernst Mayr Library, and Dr. Judith Winston, associate in marine biology at the MCZ.

BHL Europe

Recently  I traveled to Berlin, Germany to attend the final meeting of BHL Europe, which reached the end of its initial funding stream on April 30, 2012, and the Third Global BHL meeting (another post to come).  The BHL Europe project has come a long way and the international audience received a glimpse of the hard work that went into producing a Biodiversity Heritage Library for Europe.  Why is this important?  Check out the Biodiversity Heritage Library for Europe video....
