Elizabeth (Betsy) Meyer joined the Mayr Library staff as a project assistant in 2015. She works to digitize biological literature from the library for free and accessible use on the Biodiversity Heritage Library website. She especially enjoys transcribing the field notes and letters of ornithologist William Brewster (1851-1919) held in the library’s special collections, and regularly shares insights from this collection on the Mayr library blog in her series “Notes from William Brewster.” Betsy earned an B.A. in Biology at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., and is an alum of the Williams-Mystic maritime studies program. She has worked in wildlife care and rehabilitation, horticulture, and as a freelance writer. She enjoys reading, fiber arts and metal-smithing.
